Does SEO Help Your Business Show Up on AI?
Hey,
It's George.
Something interesting is happening right now, and most business owners haven't noticed it yet.
For years, when people needed a service, they'd open Google and start searching.
"Plumber near me."
"Best roofer in Perth."
"Bathroom renovator"
Pretty normal.
But now people are starting to ask AI tools the same questions.
Instead of searching through pages of websites, they're asking tools like ChatGPT to recommend businesses for them.
And that's where things get interesting.
A lot of business owners hear this and immediately think they need some new AI marketing strategy.
The reality is much simpler.
The businesses that show up in AI recommendations are usually the same businesses that already have a strong online presence.
They have good reviews.
Their business information is accurate.
Their website clearly explains what they do.
They're active online.
In other words, they're easy to find and easy to trust.
That's why I don't think local business owners need to panic about AI.
The fundamentals haven't really changed.
If you're already working on improving your visibility on Google, collecting reviews, and making it easier for customers to find information about your business, you're already moving in the right direction.
The bigger risk is doing nothing.
Because while many business owners are still relying on referrals and word of mouth alone, more people are turning to Google and AI tools every day to help them make buying decisions.
And if your business isn't showing up when they search, someone else's business will.
The good news?
You don't need to become an AI expert.
You just need to make sure your business is easy to find online and gives people confidence that you're the right choice.
That's what has worked for years.
And it's what will continue to work as search evolves.
Talk soon,
George
